Area times depth
Choose Mulch, Topsoil or, under Other materials, Compost, River rock, Decomposed granite, Bedding sand or Crushed stone base. Set the Thickness: 3 in for mulch, 4 in for topsoil, 2 in for compost to start with. The app multiplies the area by the depth and shows the volume in cubic yards and the weight in tons.
Bags, big bags, truckloads
The same volume is shown in bags, big bags and truckloads. A bag of mulch is 2 cu ft, a bag of topsoil or compost 1 cu ft; a big bag holds a cubic yard. These are presets: change them in Packaging and density to match the bags at your store.
Every bed of the job
In a project, each bed is a zone. Three beds of bark mulch become one line to order: the bags are counted on the total, not bed by bed. For a single bed at the store counter, Quick calc gives the answer without a project; Add to a project keeps it if the job grows.
