Measuring a zone

Draw it, walk it, type it, or reuse it.

Draw on the satellite view

Tap each corner; drag a corner to move it, under a magnifier. Hole starts an area to take out; Undo cancels the last step; Validate gives the zone its area. Search address finds the garden, My location centers the map on you. The background switches between the map, Satellite view and Topographic map; under the satellite view, Imagery year shows older photos. With Show my measurements, saved areas appear under the drawing and a corner placed next to one of theirs snaps onto it.

Enter the dimensions

Add a shape: Rectangle, Circle, Triangle or Tree ring. Subtract this shape takes one out. A wall or edging takes lengths: Add a length, or Add up several lengths. Inches and feet can be typed together, as on a tape: 12' 6".

Walk around it

Start, follow the edge, then hold Stop. Corner by corner averages your position at each corner instead. The measurement keeps running with the screen off.

Reuse a measurement

Use a saved measurement picks an area from Measurements. Typing dimensions afterwards unlinks the zone from it, after asking.
